We recommend picking up some provisions for the weekend before you come up. Doing this in one of the major cities is advisable - Escondido is the last one you are likely to see on your way up.
There is one restaurant, Mother's Kitchen, and an attached shop with basic provisions.
Remember that at 5000ft alcohol is significantly more potent so watch your drinking and driving even more than usual!
On top of the mountain there are various trails, an indian reservation, and a fresh spring that unfortunately you now pay to use (though I think the resort water is the same). There is also a large observatory that you can take a tour of, or if that is too sedate you could strap yourself to a bike and throw yourself down the side of the mountain (I can assure you going down is easier than up and its a blast!).
Bacci ball, horseshoes, lawn darts, kites and more will be available for your enjoyment too-if you don't happen to have your bike handy.
